Pumpkinfest is Back!

It's that time of the year again. The air is crisp, the nights are drawing in, and autumn has officially arrived. Here at the Farm Shop, that can only mean one thing... Pumpkinfest is back!

And we would love for you to join us!

Come and see the patch for yourself from 19 September until 31 October. We are open 7 days a week, from 9:15 until 17:30, with over 30 varieties of pumpkins, gourds and squashes to discover.

And the best part… Entry to the patch is completely free.  

The Unexpected Way Pumpkinfest Began

The idea for Pumpkinfest actually took root in a slightly surprising location. 

It all began when we decided to get our elephants and rhinos involved in some of the autumn fun. As part of their seasonal enrichment, pumpkins were provided for them to enjoy. A little while later, we noticed something unexpected happening... Pumpkins had begun sprouting in the elephant’s dung heap!

With our animals providing a plentiful supply of natural fertiliser, we soon realised that our site was the perfect place for planting pumpkins. By using a unique blend of elephant and rhino dung, we were able to produce a bumper crop.

From this moment, Pumpkinfest has only continued to grow!

Every year we plant our pumpkins in June and carefully tend to them throughout the summer. By September they are ready to harvest, just in time for Pumpkinfest to begin. 

Things to Do at Pumpkinfest

Coming in all shapes and sizes, our patch has pumpkins, squashes and gourds to fit every occasion. Whether you are cooking some seasonal recipes, want to add a touch of autumn to your home, or fancy trying your hand at carving spooky designs, we have the variety that is up to the task. 

Our patch also offers the perfect opportunity to snap some autumnal pics. Complete with seasonal displays, take the opportunity to add some memories to the photo album or to share your day out with family and friends on social media.

Our Farm Shop offers the perfect place to warm up after time in the patch. With a range of drinks and delicious sweet treats, it is the ideal way to end the day. Come take a look at our selection of cakes, hot drinks, biscuits and snacks. 

We strive to make sure Pumpkinfest is enjoyed by all... even those on the fluffier side. Therefore, pup cups are also available to purchase so that no one goes without.
